With each season comes a new trend, and this year, the trending coats for AW23 are better than ever. I’m really excited to share with you what i’ve been seeing recently and my opinions on what coats will be super hot this autumn and winter. The Aviator Jacket

The Aviator Jacket is a classic, of course, but it’s absolutely making the rounds this winter and rightly so. It’s stylish yet practical, and this jacket is bound to keep you toasty warm during the colder months. I first saw this coat (3rd) featured in the September issue of Harpers Bazaar and I fell in love. I already own a beautiful aviator jacket and seeing it styled above makes me so excited to start wearing it again during winter.

The Wet-Look Coat

The Wet-Look Mac is one I don’t own (yet!) but i feel we will see this more and more as the season becomes wetter. Again, it’s super practical and stylish, so there’s no doubt we will see fashionistas online gravitate towards this coat. I also love that you can find a whole bunch of varieties for this type of coat. In fact, you don’t even need to opt for a wet-look one if that’s not your type. And no matter what your favourite colour is at the moment, you’re bound to find one of these coats to suit you.

The Faux Fur Coat

This one was bound to make a come-back, and I’m over the moon about it! The Faux Fur Coat is probably one of the best coats I own for practicality. I seem to always land compliments when I wear it and everyone always asks me where it’s from. If you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors this winter, at festivals, markets, travelling or just walking around your city, consider investing in a coat like this! They are also so stylish and fun! I see these making the rounds for many years to come. That’s definitely one way to look effortlessly stylish this winter!

The Worn-Leather Jacket

As mentioned in this previous post, The Worn-Leather Jacket is something new for the season. This jacket was made for the casual, cool girls and i love how it adds texture to your outfits without looking ‘messy’. I also said that this trend might not hang around long, so if you’d planned on investing in this piece, consider that next year it might be not-so-trendy. Saying that, I do find these style of jackets to be extremely stylish and personally, I would buy something similar just because I’m really into them at the moment.

The Boxy Shacket

The Boxy Shacket is a coat i’m dying to get my hands on. I’m sure this is a take on the shacket – popularised a few years ago – and a trench coat combined. This coat is currently an obsessed of mine purely because of the classic, understated, quiet-luxury vibe it has. This is top of my wish list in terms of coats to buy, i just need some more space in my wardrobe for it! Is this a style of coat you’d gravitate towards?

The Trench Coat

Iconic is the word. The Trench Coat is a classic coat that never goes out of style. This coat should be owned by everyone because of its versatility and popularity. It’s a great piece to throw over any outfit to take it from casual to elevated. I myself have a few variations of this coat, one in dark green and one in that classic, light tan shade. Currently, people are wearing these more oversized rather than fitted, so when shopping around for a coat like this, consider sizing up to replicate that effortless, oversized effect.

I’m officially coat-obsessed. And that’s never a good sign because that kind of thinking can hurt my wallet! But, I always try to purchase pieces that are timeless and well-made so that they last as long as i look after them and they never go out of style. Likewise, I’m not always once to hop on the latest trend unless it’s something I see sticking around for a handful of years or something I truly, truly love and will wear even if its not stylish anymore. With that being said, sometimes you have to try these trends to see if they’re right for you and to figure out your own personal style.
