8 New & Fun Things To Add To Your Autumn Bucketlist
8 New, Fun
THINGS TO ADD TO YOUR BUCKET LIST THIS AUTUMN!
Autumn is my most favourite season. I’m not sure if it’s the nostalgia I feel or the colours I’m in love with, but I always get a super strong urge to get outside and do things. I’m not really an outdoors-y person, nor do I venture out into the real world all that much, but something about this time of year gets me excited to go out and have fun. So, with that being said, here are 8 new and fun things to add to your bucket list this autumn.
1. Dedicate An Entire Weekend To Reading
Starting out with a hard one (for some!), but no matter if you’re single or have a partner, why not dedicate an entire weekend to catching up on that list of books you keep putting off? I have a big backlog of books I’d love to get through, but the thought of dedicating an entire weekend to reading is very intriguing and daunting, lol. You could easily make it more of a ‘retreat’ by creating a cozy space in your office, living rom or bedroom. Decorate with candles, lots of blankets and pillows – why not find a cosy playlist and treat it as a self-care weekend? If you can’t hack a whole weekend, then try a single day instead. Go one step further and turn off your phone.
Oh, and if you needed an autumn playlist, I have one here! You’re welcome.
2. Have A Movie Night In Your Garden
Sure, it’s pretty cold in the UK, but if you’re lucky enough to own a hot tub and a garden, why not (borrow or) buy a projector, hook up your speaker and play a super cosy film? I’d absolutely love to do this. And I think I will be able to at some point! If you don’t have a hot tub, grab a comfy chair, LOTS of blankets, a hot chocolate and play your favourite autumn film – mine is Twilight, duh! – and have at it!
Some alternatives could be to grab a blow up bed, a duvet, lots of pillows and make a little outdoor or indoor fort with overhead lights and binge watch your favourite TV show, instead.
3. Go For A Hike And Take A Picnic
It’s the perfect time of year to go for a long hike, but why not take a picnic too? Pack your favourite treats, pop them in a backpack and head outdoors! When you find a beautiful spot to stop and eat at, take it all in. If you’re like me, this will probably be the first and last time you do it. I really can’t hack the cold. But if this sounds right up your street, be sure to pack some coffee and wear a thermals! Hey, if you have a dog, take them with you! Why not? It’s a fun thing to say you’ve done at least once in your life time.
4. Go To A Haunted Corn Maze
One of my fondest memories was my mum taking my brother and I to an outdoor haunted corn maze when we were kids. I remember it being chilly – which was scary. And the fact that I was not old enough to really get that the actors were just regular people in masks made it even more terrifying. If you don’t have anything like this happening near you, why not see if you can make a little day trip out to somewhere that does? Or, opt for something like a dressed-up, haunted walk with your friends. Be safe, of course! You never know what’s out there…
5. DIY Candle Making Session
As a huge candle lover, this is something I’ve always wanted to do. Now is the perfect time to try something like this, since you’ll absolutely be burning candles during this time of year. Instead of buying all new tools and accessories, just buy what you need. You can get wicks for cheap online or in craft shops, and of course, you’ll need some wax. If you have any candle jars that are fully burnt, reuse them and save some money! There are so many tutorials for getting used candle jars clean on YouTube! For the scent, you could buy a few essential oils and mix them together to create some unique scents. Again, YouTube is a great place to find tutorials for this kinda thing. Buy some labels and create your own little range of festive candles. It’s way more fun than just buying pre-made candles!
6. Take a Long Road Trip or Bike Trip
Whether you have a car or prefer a more eco-friendly way of getting around, why not take a long scenic road trip or plan a fun bike route to somewhere new? You don’t need to get out of your car, just drive around, listen to your favorite podcast, take in the scenery. Then just drive back home. I find that things like this really help me to disconnect from my busy life. It’s nice to get out of my office, out of my city, and enjoy a moment where my brain can relax. I can enjoy being in a creative mindset when I’m not stuck at my desk. My good ideas usually come to me when I’m not trying to think about them.
7. TV Show Cooking Challenge
I know it’s popular at the moment for people on social media to recreate foods featured on TV shows and movies, so why not join in, too? If there has ever been a meal or sweet treat that you’ve always wanted to try, now’s the time! Disney movies always have some great food choices. Or why not try recreating a meal from your favourite childhood TV show or even a book? If you do get a chance to make something, be sure to tag me on Instagram (@k.alexandrah). I’d love to see what you make!
8. Starbucks Fall Menu Tasting Session
Want an excuse to try everything on the menu? Grab a friend or two and split the cost of the entire autumn menu at Starbucks. You could do this at any coffee shop really, whatever works for you. Share the drinks and the price to save some coins! Then give each other your ratings for each drink. This year, Starbucks has some extremely autumnal drinks, so I would absolutely love to try this myself. However, at the moment I’m not sure I can convince Mason to try them with me. I guess you could follow my Instagram to see if I actually get around to doing it. Fingers crossed!
Autumn Is The Season For Doing New Things…
I hope that at least one of these ideas encourages you to step out of your comfort zone before the year is up. If there’s something else you can think of that deserves a place on this list of ‘8 new and fun things to add to your autumn bucket list’, please go ahead and comment below!
I’d love to be inspired by you, too!
