20 Songs You Must Add To Your Playlist!

Moon Song – Phoebe Bridgers

A melodically sad song accompanied by even sadder lyrics by the Autumn girl herself. All of Phoebe’s song make me feel some kind of way. I just love the stories she writes and how each song has such a unique sound. Listen to the background of her songs.

Bags – Clairo

A more upbeat, catchy song with very relatable lyrics. Feels very nostalgic and I love how she layers her voice in this song.

Walk Me Home – Searows

A very autumnal-sounding song rooted in hopefulness. I love the story arc that goes on here, but I also love how sad the whole song sounds. It’s very beautiful.

Beach Baby – Bon Iver

Bon Iver is just autumn coded. End of. I think everyone knows Bon Iver is a master at what he does. Therefore his songs need no explanation.

j’s lullaby (darlin’ i’d wait for you) – Delaney Bailey

Also a sad-girl vibe, but also very beautiful. The lyrics are gorgeous. Delaney’s voice is silky smooth, and I love how her pitch is lower than other female artists. It makes everything she writes and sings so much more powerful. Her mix of breathiness and singing makes this song just perfect.

Misguided Ghosts – Paramore

A song we can all relate to now and again. At the time, this vibe was very different for Paramore. It’s style is so much different to the others featured in this album. It’s much slower and not as ‘heavy’ as their other songs. Even though this song is almost 14 years old, it still sounds so fresh.

Roslyn – Bon Iver and St. Vincent

If this song wasn’t on the list, I wouldn’t trust reading the rest of it. Everyone knows this song IS autumn. I think this song is the most perfect song out there to exist. I’m instantly thrown back into my early teens when I hear this. I specifically love how the St Vincent sings in a lower octave to Bon Iver.

Matilda – Harry Styles

Harry sounds so good with an acoustic guitar. The lyrics are so good. Have you heard Matilda’s POV for this song? Epic.

Fade Into You – Mazzy Star

If it’s on Gilmore Girls, it’s fit for this playlist. I love how sad and beautiful this sounds. PS – for those of you wondering, this is played at the ball that Rory and Dean attend in the early seasons.

Between The Bars – Elliot Smith

His voice is so chilling and his lyrics are even colder. I love this song and how the lyrics can be interpreted in many ways. Just listen and you’ll know what I mean. This song is just so sad to me but so lovely to listen to.

Duvet – Boa

Very Gilmore-Girls coded. Making the rounds on TikTok! This song is from 1998 and it shows (this is a compliment!) I love how this sounds.

Maps – Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Really wanted to keep this song a secret. But it’s on the list. You can hear the emotion in her voice. I love the story for this song – I’m sure we can all relate to it.

Archie, Marry Me – Alvvays

This song is so old-school sounding, but the lyrics are so lovely. Love the story with this one. This song is a sweet sounding and charming.

Fire Escape – Half Moon Run

Keep this band to yourself, they’re one of my favourites. But also listen to their other stuff. It’s amazing.

9669 – The Joy Formidable

I love the call and response in this song. I love their voices mixed together so much. These are one of the best sounding indie-rock bands I know of.

Featherstone – The Paper Kites

Musically = hopeful, lyrically = so sad.

Music Box – Leith Ross

Listen to this artist. YOU WON’T REGRET IT. Such talent.

Scott Street – Phoebe Bridgers

This song could make me cry. It’s so beautiful to listen to. Features an acoustic guitar and Phoebe’s soft voice with beautiful harmonies. It’s nicely paced with a lovely story, and the ending gets me every time.

Wash. – Bon Iver

It’s such a beautiful song – unlike any of the others on this list, this one is accompanied by a piano! Bon Iver is so whimsical yet deep at the same time. This guy is a genius.

Would That I – Hozier

It made it. This is the last of the 20 songs you NEED to add to your autumn playlist. This song is autumn wrapped up with a nice little bow. I imagine dancing to this at my wedding, all folky-inspired, flower crowns, somewhere deep in the forest. I love this.

You can tap here to access these 20 songs in one neat little autumn playlist (and I’m adding to it weekly!) so you never run out of songs for your main character moments this fall.
